I know this seems like a strange way to start an article because “duh”, right? But for years the medical and healthcare industry seemed to treat women as if they were pretty much the same as men. When I tell people I follow a plant-based diet, one of the most common responses I get is “Ugh, I could never eat tofu.”

I recently turned 40.
